I think if everyone is smart enough (including myself) we would stop responding to the troll. You get a kick out of making people angry and that is very wrong, as well as displaying mental issues. You are a coward (always talking about lawsuits) and a waste of human flesh if you enjoy bringing misery to others.

Suttle, it's hard to maintain pride in ownership with the city and other hypocrites destroying your property faster than you can keep up.

Everyone having trouble with the results of the water line project in Parkersburg, needs to show up at the next council meeting and raise the roof. Be at every meeting until we get results that are satisfactory. The city's idea of restoration is driving by in a truck.

There seems to be a lack of pride by the citizens of Parkersburg in the upkeep of the city. It is disheartening just reading these comments and the attitude that they display towards the city. The houses and property in many parts of the city look shabby and not well kept. The vandalism only makes the city look worse.

Epossmite. Per Mayor Newell and County Commisoner Blair Couch, it is the Police departments job to respond to loose or potentially vicious dogs since the city no longer pays for Humane society. Per new contract with Humane Society it is the police departments job to respond to after hour or weekend calls.

If there were less of these vandals the police could spend more of their time on more serious matters. The police officers may arrest them but then they go to court and get a slap on the wrist. I say shoot the little SOBs, or knock the crap out of them, without fear of prosecution, then it would seem like much less fun.

If we have 15 detectives and 10 on task force then they should be able to catch people painting graffiti it's the police dept job to protect the citizens not mine. I guess you want me to write spending tickets too. If you have a pit bull running loose then it has to be caught not just chased away.if they don't want to do their job then get rid of them.

Cont'd....I don't think we agree on Newell. I think he spends too much time on his pet projects to make the city pretty, and try to make everyone really like him. That's not going to happen~~at least not in my mind.

I don't think he knows how to use the city's money, or the employees he has to the best advantage. But, it is what it is.

The police cannot be everywhere at all times, and as long as they have to play secretary and do their own reports, it is going to take time away from their real jobs~~protecting the city from dirtbags.

@ epsommite: You're right in the numbers of officers, etc., give or take a couple. I don't think too many people realize how few uniformed officers there are, nor do they realize how long it can take to get from one side of their zone to another, etc., or the fact that the city has lost a few officers to other areas, and is likely to lose a few more. You and I understand this.

Plus, in my opinion, the city doesn't want to pay OT for an officer to stay over.

Not only that, there would likely be more of a police presence if the officers did not have to sit in their car and fill out their own reports, which I know takes a lot of time.

Not only that, it is dangerous for an officer to have to divert his/her attention to stare at his computer, and fill out his report, unless he has eyes in the back of his head, or has ESP and knows if someone may be sneaking up on him while he is working on his report. (Cont'd.)

Your building gets tagged, you repaint. A clean new canvas.Your building gets tagged, you repaint. A clean new canvas. These taggers are not invisible and their work takes time. Maybe a place for a start up surveillance company to step in. Might be cheaper than this cycle of your building gets tagged, you repaint. A clean new canvas.

I called because a pit bull were after kids that more important than going on a donut run. We have over 60 cops so they should be more than 6 to 7 on duty they won't patrol but they can take cars home and take family shopping.

It is a scourge on the community and property owners should have the legal right to shoot trespassers, it might then curb this behavior.

I would imagine private property owners get sick and tired of constantly repainting their property.

How is the property owner supposed to turn in or catch these delinquents when they are out creeping around in the middle of the night with their spray cans?

Should they stay up all night and guard their property? No, that won't work. Should they hire a private security person to guard their property? No, that won't work either.

How about having more police presence in the area, and make it frequent--not just a drive by once a night.

As far as city employees having to repaint city property, that's part of their job.

Once these "artists" are caught, slap the parents with a great big fine, and throw the brats in detention or jail.
