"If they didn't get the gun, that at least delayed (& possibly prevented) whatever harm they would have done."

I would be curious if you have anything to back that up or if it’s simple an anecdotal comment but if the goal is simply to delay and possibly prevent, then why tie punishments to the crime? And if the idea is to simply prevent harm and gun shows are the boogey man contributor they are made out to be, why not simply outlaw gun shows?

Do you also want to prosecute every teenager who tries to buy beer w/ a fake I.D.? & the clerk who handed it back saying, "Nice try, kid," but didn't call the cops?

I'm curious as to why Senator Manchin doesn't work at enforcing current law. Of 10,000 plus background checks that included lies by the applicants, 62 were prosecuted. What good does passing a law do if it is not enforced?

If Manchin and Toomey wanted to do something then tackle the problem of care and treatment of the mentally ill and unstable. Get better treatment for them.

Why all the crying over what the Senate can or an not do? It would never pass the House anyway. If it weren't for all the Lefts public record of being for totally outlawing gun ownership and for confiscating all guns then there may be room to negotiate. Until those people are no longer in office, no sane person would believe any of what they now say. Give them anything and they are not satisfied, they will come back for more and more. BTW buying guns online require the gun be transferred through FFL dealers then to the buyer after a background check. More federal laws are broken by ads in the classified section for buyers crossing state lines to pick up firearms and not processing them through FFL dealers as required by existing law. Is the PN&S complicate in breaking federal law by allowing this to happen, with no warning explaining the consequences?

I have no connection to the NRA. But I have common sense and pages and pages of not read new rules will not save one person from being shot.

I voted for Manchin. It will not happen again.
