Attack on officers is an attack on society

I look for more of this kind of thing to happen. Society is breaking down.

Also with states vying for sovereignty more people might be apt to taking up sovereignty.

Those folks have in a lot of cases been extremely violent toward any officials. Especially law enforcement.

Tinfoilhat, I'm having trouble following your argument. It breaks down right about "tax returns". Did you mean "tax refunds"? & if that's what you meant --- well, I'll wait for your clarification.

Society is CHANGING more rapidly than usual. I basically agree w/ you that change is not the same as breakdown. Some is bad, some is good, probably most of it is just different but requires us to re-align our thinking. All this has yet to settle out so we can see what we need to get used to -- & by that time, yet other things will have changed.

But as mythravere mentioned, there are a few who are preparing to liberate themselves from the government. They potentially pose some threat b/c they aren't willing to wait for a majority of the people. However, to tie this to state sovereignty makes little sense to me -- would have made no sense to the founding fathers of this country.

Tinfoilhat, you DIDN'T convey the message.

If you meant tax "refund": The only way I know that people might get a bigger refund than they had withheld, is the Earned Income Tax Credit. Is that what you're saying promotes illegal drug sales?

It's possible you meant that some people don't list all their deductions w/ their employer, so have much more withheld than they will owe in taxes. Which they get back in a big lump sum.

But if getting a lot of money at one time is what is causing WV's drug problem, you need to do something about farmers, most of whom go 11 months w/o a payday then get 1 big payday or a few paydays within a month or so. If I'm following your logic, we need to put those big checks in escrow accounts & pay them out in 24 payments 2 weeks apart, to stop the epidemic of farmers on drugs. An epidemic I admit I hadn't heard about until you brought it up.

As you say, the message in conveyed. If that wasn't the message you meant to convey ...

This is also a pretty stupid article, this guy that did the shooting is a loser pill head and is not smart enough to target officers. Law enforcement needs to clean up their own departments and get rid of some of their more overbearing officers who take advantage of their position and seem to have a "god" complex. I know a lot of police, and they are all not this way but it only takes a few to taint them all. But as far as them being targeted, don't worry about the pillheads, they are a waste of life.

So you two think "this guy that did the shooting is a loser pill head and is "not smart enough to TARGET officers." And then want on to write "But as far as them being "TARGETED" don't worry about the pillheads, they are a waste of life.

After the alleged pill head shot and killed Mingo County's Sheriff is a "Good comment"

Like I said I don't think either one of you to know what you're talking about!!

Denver, I believe you might be taking this out of context. One person did target an officer, this person was a pill head, and because one person targeted a police officer does not necessarily mean their is an epidemic of targeting officers. Is this to the point enough for you to understand? I must have passed over the veteran comment, but who cares what u think. I am a veteran and that does not put me in a protected category. It is like almost everything u have to say is contrary to what everyone else says or thinks.

Denver, you are a drag on society and are constantly trying to incite rage over your political views. Party or not, it takes two to tango, and the state of America is not the fault of either one individually but both collectively. However, the leader of this great country stated he would fix this country and get it back on track and he did not!!

Tinfoilhat, I said below that I basically agree w/ you, & that is still true. I do wish you would write more carefully; think you sideswiped more than you intended when you wrote about "tax returns that are larger than a person paid into the system to begin with."

I think we could agree that people who work (that's what the "earned" in "Earned Income Tax Credit" means), & people who work in their own business (e.g. farmers) are less likely to be a problem. & I think we can agree that heavily-advertised tax-refund loans are, on balance, not a good thing.

It is true that I tend to "write a thesis," & that wasn't an effective response to this matter.

"Itsnottolate" that might be what you intended, but that's not what you wrote, and that's what I was commenting on. The fact that two people think its a "GOOD" comment says a lot about them. That's for sure!

And for you to think what he or she said about that person, "being a veteran" or not is OK, says a lot about you,

(As I was saying before the power went out) to Tinfoilhat:

That illegal drug sales go up at the same time as appliances & used cars, is unsurprising. But mentioning only the drugs in your first post distorted the picture -- in a way that's hard to undo. If I replace my old refrigerator (& thereby reduce my electric bill), are you lumping me w/ recreational drug users? I don't think you meant that. Or if I trade-up my 22-year-old vehicle for a 6-year old vehicle, I'm a bad person? But you put your foot in it so deep it's hard to pull out.
