I wonder what condition the inside of the hotel is after 25 years? I guess they are planning to gut it anyway since they are making the rooms larger.

Heard these BS stories before... and yet, there the eyesore sits. When it is actually worked on, something done, and reopened, then I will believe it.

I really don't care who takes credit for it as long as they do something with it. The Uptowner has been a sore eye for the years its stood vacant. It was quite nice at one time with a restaurant that stayed open all night. Don't know it will have the business it once had, but for one, I'm hoping it does.

Once again Mayor Newell RULES as another large business looks to locate in the so called "dieing" downtown business district. As to the 85 new businesses, just get out of your vehicle and walk the streets of downtown and surrounding blocks and you will find them!!!!!!!

Hmm someone is back with yet another new name. As to the buildings condition, the lady across the street from me worked there. They told her the day they closed that they were closing. She said the roof leaked rather badly then, when it was open. Hard to tell how bad it is by now. Sure would be nice to get it fixed up and looking decent again.

So if I wanted to come back home to open a business that is a hit in LA with a bunch of investors...this Mayor will try to take the credit?

I actually was planning to do something like this but if this Mayor is anything like what people re saying..I may try across the river
