Why wasn't he given a bond? Why is there a need for a circuit court hearing? This article is lacking important facts.

What difference does it make whether he is given a bond? He decided it would be a good idea to rob a local business, he doesn't deserve anything. In my opinion, he gave up his right to anything, including bond and the ability to sit on his butt at home until the hearing, the moment he decided to pull such a ridiculous stunt.
Have fun in your orange jumpsuit hanging out with your new boyfriends.

With most businesses equipped with video surveillance, why would anyone attempt such a stupid stunt?

This is at least his second arrest for felonious robbery. He was sentenced in Kanawha County in April 2000 to 15+ years but was paroled just last year from the St Marys Correctional Center.

Wow you think hanging around jail he would have learned how to hide his face with something besides his sleeve. Looked like a fat 5 year old wiping his nose.

LightsOut, to try to answer your question about bond. Certain felony charges are considered "Capital Crimes, i.e,, murder, kidnapping, and yes armed robbery. Therefore, the magistrate may arraign the person charge, however, are not authorized to set a bond. This type of crime has to go before a circuit court judge for a bail hearing. That's the way the legislature is set up. Once bond is set by a circuit judge, the newspaper will pick it up and print it.
