MothMan,you forgot to mention your suit against Newell, your slipping. It is going to be interesting to see what you do after you lawsuit is finalized. What will your next move be? Seem like you like to be in the spotlight.Being kicked out of Ohio Vally University because of a behavior issue, shoplifting incident,a feeble attempt to run for council, and now a suit against officials looking out for the public safety. Maybe if you were to shave and clean yourself up a little the spotlight would shine a little brighter for you. After all we all know, in your little mind you know you deserve the spotlight. PEACE

GoldNBlue: You are correct about Belpre and Marietta having a city tax. The only difference between the city tax and the user fee is that the city tax can be deducted on your federal and state income taxes and the user-fee canniot.

coachbear, I am not a big fan of the User Fee, but $2.50 a week is hardly outrageous. My biggest issue with the user fee is what other increases it will lead to. Compared to other similar cities, Parkersburg has very low taxes. Belpre/Marietta have MUCH higher rates.

I would say Mr. Kelly has more knowledge of the budget than TAX NEWELL. How do you not fund a demolition fund as ordered to do and snub your nose at it and do less? TAX NEWELL'S flaws are just starting to expose themselves............

Before the biased opinions about Mayor Newell come out a couple of things.
1) Kelley arguing that big of a pay raise is more than rational
2) Mayor Newell wanting to give a payraises to city employees who provides that much oversight over 250 plus and remaining within market price is more than reasonable
3) West Virginia is below the average single family home salary base compared to other states, therefore why are we competing for market price if we are still paying some outrageous taxes? IE user fee.
4) Don't be biased towards the Mayor he proceeds with decisions from a group of people, and that he thinks will benefit long run. We may not agree on it but he tries to do what is right for his employees.
Just look rationally and not personally.

Wouldn't everyone like to have a $666 a month raise? I guess a $300 a month wasn't enough. Newell sounds like he's trying to make city government as big as the federal government, with all his SPENDING.

Citykitty, Mr. Kelley is doing his job correctly. He is questioning the information before him and not blindly following Newell like sheep. I am curious though, a city kitty is an old fashioned word for a city police officer, are you a police officer?
