Geezer is absolutely correct. They lost a contract with Meijer-unions had nothing to do with it. Dean Foods is making a large profit-they tried to raise their profit more at Meijer's expense and Meijer's responded with a "seeya" and contracted with another less greedy company. And no, I don't belong to a union.
Broughton jugs tend to drip. Need to get over a sink when trying to pour into a glass, if the jug is more than half full. I avoid them whenever I can find another brand. Surprised they haven't lost more business than they have. I don't know what house brand is involved, haven't encountered the drip problem w/ any house brand.
This may be anouther result of the over power of a union operation. Unions are greedy. Wonder bread store, went out of business in Belpre, why? The union.I worked part time at broughtons. The union controlled all the allotted positions for employees. Part timers got the crumbs. Union members told me why I was there, they didnt want as many extra hours. But the union would not let the part timers have those hours.I think, less unions, better jobs.Unions are in decline. Im happy.I wouldnt be surprised if lay offs do come, thank the unions for that.
Dean Foods lost the Meijer contract in late 2012 due to pricing issues. Several locations, i.e. Evart MI are already shutting down. Do a google search on 'Dean Foods closing dairies' for more detailed information. Good luck to Broughton's employees.
