Hey Mayor Newell,

How about taking a clue from our neighbor across the river and go after the deadbeats who owe back B&O taxes.

Hey "mayorspet"

The city turned them over to a collections agency, and they couldn't collect them. "Remember" How about you go on down to the city building and tell them that you will collect them. I'm sure the Mayor would be happy to get them collected! Just saying.

Its funny people complain about the user fee in Parkersburg, but if you "live or work" within the Belpre city limits you pay a 1 percent income tax to the city. And nothing is ever said about that!

I'm glad we didn't take a clue from our neighbor across the river!

Mayorspet, you are right but don't dare critcize the mayor. He seems that its easier to collect new money from people working in Parkersburg than to go after the deadbeat business's who get a free ride under Newell. It's amazing how one city employee in Belpre can recover over $300000.00 in two years.

It amazes me how Newell can attract these clowns who defend his actions or lack of actions no matter what.

Does Parkersburg have a pro-active city auditor like Belpre or does that fall under the duties of finace director? I hope not. Newell has gone through three finance directors while in office, One was a thief, and another was a drunk. And they can't figure out why things can't get done in Parkersburg.

does the prosecutor still sit directly beside the mayor/judge in the belpre court? this hardly passes the smell test in the fairness department. i once had a traffic ticket in belpre and this was the configuration in the court room. it was oddly parralelled in an iraqi court proceeding i witnessed working security there. it makes one think

"Mayor's Court" really? It's too small a town for that, if you aren't born and bread Belpre, you aren't coming out ahead in anykind of kangaroo court held in that city. LOL Seriously.. this stuff needs to be taken care of in a real court.. Belpre is a joke.

I wonder how much of those delinquent B&O taxes that "mayorspet" "Trollhunter" and "Barfighter" are talking about, is owed by Blair Couch?

Maybe we could get "danglingchad" to find out for us, since he or she knows so much about thief's, and drunks.

If you are charged with an offense that could result in jail time you can have your case transferred from Mayor's Court to Marietta Municipal court. They mostly have traffic tickets and more likely than not the person is guilty. If you are caught speeding you are going to have a hard time beating that ticket anyway.

If the management of this newspaper had any backbone they would assist the citizens in getting to the bottom of the past due B & O tax debacle. We want names, we want action, and we want them now. Citizens, call your council person and demand accountability!

hindsight101 you keep telling everyone to "hush" yet i fought for their right to express their opinion so that is one you will just have to deal with, also i find it ironic that every post you make on here has a disagree to agree ratio of nearly ten to one so doesnt that make you "the minority" just sayin LOL

Mayor Lorentz,

I am one of those citizens that erroneously had a warrant for my arrest, I in fact filed and paid my taxes, but yet for some reason your auditor didn't have that in her file. Once I proved I had paid my taxes she still made me pay the court costs. Why did I have to pay court costs when it was the City's error? Truly unfair, and I have since put my house up for sale and looking to move out of the City of Belpre. I suggest others to do the same!

Question: What do Manti Te'o, Lance Armstrong and me have in common?

Answer: We're all liars and think that people are too stupid to notice.
