I'm on the flight path to CCMH. Once in a while a helicopter would fly over to take a patient some where else . Now its a nuisance , some times as many as four flights a day .If CCMH is the great and wonderful "Medical Center" why are so many people being shipped outta here , and this dosen't count the ambulances going out of town . Smoke and mirrors , and a side note a VA hospital is in the pipeline for 15-20 years and they don't buy used they build new.

And the disaster unfolds. God help us all when CCMH is the only hospital left. =\

"The emergency department at the Memorial campus will be expanded to accommodate both campuses' emergency patient population" That's great... really such a superb thing.. however, the article neglects any mention to whether the extremely long wait times will ever be addressed or WHEN?! I was recently instructed by doctor's office to go to the ER to get IV Antibiotics (because prescription antibiotics were not helping), but warned it could be up to an 8 hour waiting time. With a bad bad hip/back, stuck in uncomfortable chairs for that long would basically be guaranteeing me no way to 'walk' back out once I was seen, or make it back up to my house. They'd mentioned Marietta, but the infection was sinuses and had half my face is swollen causing a severe 'throbbing' and dizziness after so many minutes, plus affecting my left eye, so the drive that far was out of the question/too dangerous - so I have done without! Also agree with DCGibson; amazed at news reports/articles statin

This is nothing more than more misinformation from "King of the hill". We all know that CCMH was not prepared to be the only hospital for this area. Parking for visitors alone is a problem. A multi layer parking garage should have been built. The south towers parking area should be used for a new multi story add-on for the hospital, and the helicopter should not be landing in an area with tall buildings in a downtown area. Land at the airport and shuttle via ambulance would be better or contract for a landing area at Fort Borman Hill. Planing for growth is hard. You must guess how many new people will need services from a 50+ mile radius of the hospital, and that includes areas from Ohio as well. You have two buildings to work with, why be in a hurry to sqeeze everything into one building until it is ready. Emergency department is to small and under staffed and I can't remember when your bed space is full. Every broom closet has been turned into office space. Plan and build

In spite of finally getting their hands on St. Joseph's cardiac unit, Marietta Memorial is truly giving CCMH a run for their life. If healthcare continues to evolve, we'll soon have virtual surgeries at home without needing to leave the premises. Are you all ready for that?

over 600 lost jobs, jobs with decent pay and benefits and our "leaders" just take it without a whimper of protest, just absolutely depressing.

6 years ago I was in the emergency room of CCMH with massive chest pain. They triaged me, and set me in the waiting room. 3 hours later took me to the back and told me "You are having a panic attack, go home" No blood work,NOTHING!! I went home and 2 hours later was in the back of an ambulance clinging to a paramedic begging him to make the pain go away. I was in the middle of a heart attack. Fast forward to 2013, with a family member in the emergency room of CCMH. The ER was over crowded..people that had been admitted had to wait in the ER because there were no beds. Yep, this is exactly what Parkersburg needs!!! I will be making the trip to Marietta or Charleston for my healthcare needs. The only thing CCMH is concerned about is the all mighty dollar!!! Not the health and welfare of this community. Makes me sick!!

If you need a bipass the place to go is Columbus or Charleston. If you want to live that is.

Whats funny, objective,or sad,is that at 7:30 in the evening and he already has a hideful. No sense in wasting a call,he'll go "accounts deleted" any day now and deny like Nixon that he EVER said a word to besmirch anything or body.

This area definitely needs more than one hospital to suit its needs, emergency and otherwise. I've required a two surgeries over the years, for which I went to CCMH, but Dr. Rudolph, that extraordinary guy, was practicing then and I knew he could be trusted to provide me with great care. Beyond those surgeries, anything else that my family has needed beyond anything more than a chest xray or simple stitches for a laceration, including the delivery of a high-risk pregnancy, has all taken place in either Charleston or Morgantown. No way would I trust specialized care, surgical care, or most emergency care to CCMH. My doctor seems to agree with me, because I never have an issue getting a referral either.

What is needed in Parkersburg is a new modern hospital, and not keep throwing money away adding poorly designed sections to the old existing hospital. Ft. Boreman would be an ideal location for a new hospital, similar to how they built United Hospital in Clarksburg right off the interstate. It would also spur new development on Ft. Boreman. A city the size of Parkersburg/Vienna, and surrounding locations deserves so much better than what we have.

Of course, the root cause of this is the "Affordable Health Care Act" that is forcing consolidation into one big hospital that employs all the doctors in town. Thank you, Obama.

You know, I was an emergency employee at CCMH and It's gotten worse since WV System. There are good Docs and Staff at both of these campuses. There are enough pt's t have both open and they could have had specialty care divided. Most of you do not know that on a simple Friday night, One of the two ERs are on diversion. Let's get some dr's in here to actually do something, like they should have done years ago. Do you have any idea that there are usually 2 ambulances available because they have to ship everything out? God Forbid we have a major incident.. our EMS are all in Cleveland, Columbus, and Mo-town. And our ER staff are losing good people an cannot handle what they have now.

It's been many years (30) since I was a patient at Camden Clark. At that time, I received good care but I was only there 3 days. I do not and will not visit the ER, I go to my doctor even if I have to wait for an appointmment. Many folks here are saying CC Hosp lacks quality care, what's going on? I have a pending admission for surgery and I expect quality care. Can you explain..I need truth?

Several comments have been deleted from this discussion...including my own mentioning the 4.74% rate hike approved for cc. Why? I find it interesting that the P'burg News feels it can randomly delete posts. It appears that those deleted are the ones that favored St. Joseph's. Unbiased? I think not.
