Market, Juliana changes debated
PARKERSBURG — About 30 people attended a public meeting Thursday night to discuss proposals to change traffic patterns and parking on Market and Juliana streets. Mayor Bob Newell said a plan to make Market Street one lane between Ninth and Fourth streets with angle parking on one side and parallel parking on the other won approval from the business community in an earlier meeting. The other plan is for Juliana Street between Ninth and 13th streets to be one lane and a lower speed limit, he said. Newell said the plan is designed to keep the city traffic out of the historic area. “Many people use Juliana Street as a shortcut to Garfield Avenue or to beat Murdoch Avenue traffic,” he said. “It is a residential area. With this there would be one lane with a bike lane on the left and parallel parking on the right. “We will determine how many are using Juliana Street to get to Market Street.
