| | Blood not thicker than politicsOctober 18, 2010 - Jim SmithYou have to be kidding me! There could not be two more unlikely relatives than Barack Obama and Sarah Palin, but there appears to be a shared bloodline between them ... amazing! Not only is Obama a distant relative of former vice president and hardcore, conservative Republican Dick Cheney, but according to Utah-based Ancestry.com, the president is a 10th cousin to Palin through a common ancestor named John Smith who was a 17th century pastor in Massachusetts. Both Obama and Palin supposedly are related to Smith through their mothers. If that isn't strange enough, Obama also is a 10th cousin, one time removed, to ultra conservative radio talking head Rush Limbaugh through a common relative named Richmond Terrell, a large land owner in 17th century Virginia. Now add this tidbit, former President George W. Bush is an 11th cousin to Obama through a common ancestor, Samuel Hinckley, and Bush and Palin are 10th cousin, one time removed, also through Hinckley. I guess in the case of Bush, Cheney, Palin and Limbaugh, blood is not thicker than water when it comes to politics. Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article. Post a Comment | |
