| | Just need $250,000 reward moneyAugust 27, 2009 - Jim SmithI would love to find the white, 1976 Triumph Spitfire I bought in Columbus, but I can't come up with a $250,000 reward. "Papa John's" Schnatter, a true rags to riches story, recently gave a $250,000 reward to the man who returned the pizza king's prized 1971 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Schnatter sold for $2,800 in 1983 to help keep his father's Jefferson, Ind., tavern afloat and to start his own pizza business ... the rest of which, as they say, is history. Papa John missed his Camaro so much he eventually offered the reward and started a Web site to help track the vehicle down. As it turned out, the vehicle only changed hands twice since 1983 and was found in Flatwoods, Ky., about 165 miles east of Louisville, where the pizza chain is based. Papa John got back is Camaro, the finder got $250,000, the original buyer got $25,000 for helping in the search and all Camaro owners who stop by a Papa John's one day last week got a free pizza. Now if someone will lend me $250,000 maybe I can start the search for the 1971 mustard yellow or the 1976 white Triumph Spitfires (TR4s) I had back when I had no financial responsibilities and could own a car just for the fun of driving it. Actually, my wife would love for us to find a Spitfire to cruise around town in. Does that mean now I'm too old to worry about financial responsibilities. Hmmmm!
