Where's the Pirates games?
May 14, 2013 - Jim Smith
Throughout April, the Pirates, Root and Suddenlink were hyping and repeatedly promoting that Pirates fans would not lose the opportunity to see televised Pirates games when the Pirates played on the same night as Penguins in playoff games.
Throughout the month, Suddenlink and Root repeatedly aired that whenever a Penguins game was shown on Root, the Pirates game would be shown on West Virginia Network.
That arrangement was all fine and good for Pirates fans and also accommodated Penguins fans, even though it meant the Pirates were not being shown in HD.
Then along came May and the arrangement apparently faded with the flip of the calendar, leaving Pirates fans to miss games and wonder why the "deal" in place in April didn't follow through to May. Nary a word on Root or Suddenlink or from the Pirates was heard to explain the lack of Pirates games continuing to be aired on the West Virginia Network station.
Frankly, unlike my hockey-loving daughter and son-in-law, when a hockey game comes on TV, I'm ready to go out and mow the yard ... and I hate to mow the yard!
With the Penguins continuing to advance in the Stanley Cup playoffs, it seems likely Pirates fans will continue to be left in the cold until the playoffs finally are over, which sometimes seems like they will run until sometime in 2097.
