| | Keep snow out of the streetJanuary 24, 2013 - Jim SmithIt never ceases to amaze me when I see people shoveling the snow off their sidewalks into the street. With street crews fighting to keep streets clear of snow, it is counterproductive for residents and businesses to clear their sidewalks -- and sometimes parking lots -- into the street. I wonder if the same people shoveling their sidewalk and parking lot snow into the street are among the first to complain their streets are not cleared of snow so they can get to work or customers can get to their businesses? It snowed Wednesday night and Thursday morning and sure enough there were people out shoveling their sidewalks into the street while I was on my way into the office about 6:45 a.m. Thursday. It always makes me shake my head in wonderment. Why not pile the snow in their yards, along one side of their parking lots or along one side of their sidewalk? Why put it in the street while it just complicates street clearing and adds to the potential for an accident? Keep the snow out of the street! Article Comments(4)BabyOnBourdFeb-02-13 8:47 PM Let me guess you use a snowblower and blow it in your neighbors yard. Hahahaha don't think ya gotta worry bout people shoveling their snow in the road this year, heck even the main roads aren't getting salted this year. Why don't you focus on the fact that the state is barely doing it's job to keep the streets clean of snow so are kids can go to school. Don't worry bout what we do, worry bout what the start of the problem is. Resident2Jan-24-13 4:30 PM What about when the plows, pile the snow around your car and block your drive way? Is this not an inconvenience for taxpayers? Post a Comment | |
