| | What a disappointmentJanuary 8, 2013 - Jim SmithI'm sure I was like most of the college football fans Monday night who were looking forward to a high-energy battle between Notre Dame and Alabama for the BCS National Championship. What we got was anything but a highly competitive game. The match-up was a disaster from nearly the kickoff. Notre Dame could not stop the potent Alabama offense that seemed to be able to gain yardage and score nearly without effort. The "big uglies" of Alabama controlled the line and kept Notre Dame's much touted defense from hardly getting into the action. Watching the one-sided contest made me wonder if Oregon or even Texas A&M would have been a better match-up against Alabama. Of course, if Ohio State had not been ineligible -- due to university, previous head coach's and past players' stupidity -- it surely would have been able to better keep up with Alabama, but we will never know. The national championship game was anything but a fitting way to end a competitive season. I'm waiting for the "Pathetic Bowl" to be sponsored by the makers of Prozac and Valium. Post a Comment | |
