No reason to watch playoffs

January 16, 2012 - Jim Smith
It's down to the NFL league championship title games and I have no reason to watch, beyond just an interest in football.

First it was the Bengals who were destroyed, then the Steelers lost, then, to my great surprise, the Saints and the Packers were dumped, leaving me with none of the teams I follow left in the playoffs.

How teams that have lived by turnovers can so completely fall apart and commit so many turnovers as did the Saints and Packers is absolutely beyond my comprehension.

Instead of wanting a team to win, now I'm left with wanting a team to lose ... the Ravens, who I will continue to dislike as long as Ray Lewis is on the team. No one can question his ability, enthusiasm and dedication on the football field, but his personal history leaves me wishing he would leave football to those who have a less tainted past.

Of course, I also don't like the manner in which the Ravens were formed by pulling the team out of Cleveland, much as the Colts were pulled out of Baltimore so many decades ago.

So, with no teams left I like and a couple teams left I don't like, I'm left with "Go 49ers!"
